Knucklepuck is searching for an ambitious, innovative individual to join our rapidly growing team of digital-first marketers as a full-time Marketing Copywriter (Copywriter). The Copywriter will be expected to contribute immediately in a collaborative environment that rewards results.

This Copywriter role is well suited to content producers who specialize in writing branded copy with a marketing and branding focus. The role offers the opportunity to gain experience writing for a digital audience and learn more about SEO and digital marketing as a whole. Our team is well suited to grit hustlers who value a hard day’s work, the comforts of a beanbag chair and a quality pun.

About the Position

The Copywriter’s primary responsibility will be content production. The Copywriter will work under the direction of the Content Manager to produce branded sales copy for a variety of clients. Projects will include blog posts, evergreen pieces, social media posts and branding materials. The Copywriter will also work with the Paid Media Manager to craft short, compelling advertising copy for a variety of clients. We value writers with a well-rounded skillset, so at times you may also be called upon to produce informative, research-based copy.

The Copywriter must be able to take direction and cultivate strong professional relationships both externally (with clients) and internally (with colleagues across departments at all levels within the company).

To succeed in this position, you must have:

  • Writing skill, which you have learned and practiced, and a talent for the craft, which has always come naturally to you
  • Curiosity to understand unfamiliar topics and areas of industry
  • Flexibility to creatively adapt language to various audiences as you create content that attracts and compels readers
  • Ability to produce content efficiently under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate professionally with clients, partners and colleagues
  • Quick-learning tendencies, a thirst for knowledge and a desire to contribute immediately to a rapidly growing startup agency
  • Ability to embrace constructive criticism and refine work accordingly
  • Working familiarity with Google Docs and Google Drive (as well as Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Writing quality content. You will most frequently work on branding strategy, evergreen pages, blog posts, social media posts and ad copy. Occasional projects include long-form content, branding materials and technical writing.
  • Crafting, understanding and maintaining each client’s unique voice and tone. This includes interviewing client stakeholders to understand their view of the company’s brand and their voice when ghostwriting.
  • Develop and maintain partner relationships for guest blog posting.
  • Contributing marketing copy to new business proposals.  
  • Developing branding strategy, including performing competitive research.
  • Collaborating with Knucklepuck SEO, Paid Media and Web Development teams to ensure content production aligns with overall marketing and business objectives

It would be great if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Creative Writing or Communications
  • Experience interviewing sources
  • Working knowledge of WordPress
  • Working knowledge of SEO and writing for digital audiences
  • Agency or newsroom experience (to understand tight deadlines and quick pivots)
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
